"Over the past two Arctic seasons, Quark Expeditions has proudly partnered with the Expedition Guide Academy (EGA) to deliver comprehensive firearm and polar bear safety training that has meaningfully strengthened our expedition team's confidence and competence, sense of preparedness, and overall leadership in the field.  The training—conducted both onboard one of our vessels in Aberdeen as well as at EGA’s Copenhagen facility—has emphazised proactive risk management, non-lethal deterrence, and the critical importance of clear communication and team coordination in polar bear environments. Through scenario-based discussions, dry-handling drills, and operational theory, our guides have gained deeper insight into decision-making frameworks for operating in challenging polar bear environments, and a refreshed awareness of the role and responsibilities of firearm and non-firearm carriers alike.The feedback from our team has been overwhelmingly positive. One guide shared, “Pre-season training onboard the ULT in Aberdeen was much appreciated, especially the workshop on polar bear behavior and safety hosted by Ben.” Another team member added, “The pre-season training in Aberdeen with EGA was very useful and I felt a lot safer going into the field with it fresh in mind.” We extend our sincere thanks to the EGA team for their outstanding support and expertise.
